Job Description

New Business Development

·       Identify and evaluate new business opportunities in trading and distribution, including new product lines, supplier relationships, and regional market entries.

·       Conduct feasibility studies and ROI analyses for potential ventures or expansion

·       Prepare and present business proposals and strategic recommendations to top management.

·       Drive pilot projects and oversee the transition from concept to commercial launch.

·       Establish measurable growth targets for new business initiatives and ensure achievement.

 

Market & Competitor Analysis

·       Conduct in-depth market and competitor analysis to identify trends, pricing dynamics, and emerging threats or opportunities.

·       Benchmark company performance against competitors to define clear differentiation strategies.

·       Develop actionable intelligence reports for management, covering market share, pricing, product movement, and sales channel comparisons.

·       Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to refine go-to-market and positioning strategies based on competitor insights.

Business Acquisition, Strategic Partnerships & Alliances

·       Identify and engage with potential local and international partners—suppliers, distributors, or strategic investors—to strengthen the company’s value chain. Lead negotiations and partnership structuring (exclusive distribution rights, joint ventures, co-branding, alliances, or mergers & acquisitions (M&A) or supply agreements).

·       Build long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with principals and key stakeholders.

·       Evaluate potential partners or acquisition targets and conduct due diligence.

·       Evaluate partnership performance and ensure alignment with business objectives.

·       Ensure smooth onboarding and integration of new business opportunities.

·       Lead negotiations for contracts, joint ventures

 

Strategic Planning & Execution

·       Contribute to the corporate growth strategy by providing insights on market expansion, diversification, and competitive positioning.

·       Support the GM/CEO in preparing annual business plans, market forecasts, and investment proposals.

·       Align business development activities with company-wide financial and operational goals.

·       Collaborate cross-functionally with supply chain, sales, and finance to ensure execution excellence.

Leadership & Performance Management

·       Lead and mentor the business development team to ensure agility and market responsiveness.

·       Establish KPIs for new business growth, partner acquisition, and competitive intelligence.

·       Monitor and report progress to senior management with regular performance updates and recommendations.

 

Market Research & Competitive Intelligence

·       Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify growth areas and emerging trends.

·       Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and positioning to inform business strategy.

·       Present regular market and performance reports to management.

 

Cross-functional Collaboration

·       Work closely with marketing, finance, operations, and product development teams to ensure strategic alignment.

·       Support tender preparation, project proposals, and business case development.

·       Coordinate with finance for feasibility studies and ROI analysis of projects.

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

·       Number and value of new business opportunities successfully launched.

·       Growth in revenue contribution from new business lines or partnerships.

·       Number of strategic alliances or supplier agreements secured.

Job Requirements

·       Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or Supply Chain (MBA preferred).

·       10–15 years’ experience in business development or strategic partnerships within trading, import/export, or distribution industries.

·       Strong analytical skills for market and competitor evaluation.

·       Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication abilities.

·       Proven experience in establishing and managing strategic alliances.

·       Commercial acumen and ability to translate insights into actionable business plans.
