Job Description

Process Monitoring & Optimization

·       Monitor daily refinery operating conditions and process parameters to ensure stable and efficient plant operation.

·       Analyze process performance and identify opportunities to improve product yields, energy efficiency, and operational reliability.

·       Optimize refinery operations to maximize product recovery and profitability in coordination with the Marketing and Commercial teams.

·       Monitor refinery unit performance and recommend operational improvements to achieve production targets.

 

Process Engineering & Technical Support

·       Perform daily process calculations, including material and energy balance calculations.

·       Develop and maintain process performance reports, operating guidelines, and technical recommendations.

·       Provide technical support to refinery operations during start-up, shutdown, troubleshooting, and process upsets.

·       Conduct process studies and evaluations to improve refinery performance and operational flexibility.

 

Feedstock & Product Planning

·       Evaluate and recommend suitable crude oil and condensate feedstocks based on refinery configuration and operational requirements.

·       Assess feedstock processing opportunities and their impact on product quality, recovery, and profitability.

·       Ensure refinery products comply with local governmental and regulatory specifications.

 

Refinery Unit Performance Management

·       Monitor the performance of refinery processing units including:

·       Atmospheric Distillation Unit (ADU)

·       Hydrogen Plant

·       Jet A-1 Hydrotreater

·       Other supporting refinery process units

·       Evaluate catalyst activity, unit efficiency, and process constraints to maintain optimum operating conditions.

·       Investigate process deviations and recommend corrective actions.

 

Process Modeling & Simulation

• Utilize process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS to perform process analysis, simulation, and optimization studies.

• Develop process models to evaluate operational scenarios and improvement opportunities.

• Support the development and maintenance of refinery planning and linear optimization models.

 

Safety, Risk & Compliance

·       Ensure refinery activities comply with company HSE policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

·       Participate in HAZOP, risk assessments, Management of Change (MOC), and process safety initiatives.

·       Support incident investigations and implement process-related corrective and preventive actions.

·       Promote a strong safety culture across refinery operations.

 

Engineering Documentation & Project Support

·       Review process engineering documents, drawings, specifications, and technical submissions from contractors and consultants.

·       Support engineering projects, modifications, debottlenecking initiatives, and unit improvement programs.

·       Participate in commissioning, testing, and performance evaluation of new equipment and process systems.

 

Reporting & Communication

·       Prepare technical reports, presentations, and operational performance summaries.

·       Generate process and operational documentation in both English and Myanmar languages as required.

·       Coordinate effectively with Operations, Technical Services, Projects, Maintenance, Marketing, and Management teams.

Objective 2: Ensure Product Quality Compliance

·       Maintain full compliance with product quality specifications.

·       Support timely product quality investigations and corrective actions.

·       Minimize off-specification product generation.

 

Objective 3: Enhance Process Safety Performance

Key Results

·       Participate in all scheduled HAZOP and process safety reviews.

·       Support implementation of process safety improvements.

·       Ensure process risks are identified and appropriately mitigated.

 

Objective 4: Strengthen Process Optimization Capability

Key Results

·       Utilize Aspen HYSYS and refinery models for performance improvement studies.

·       Identify operational improvement opportunities annually.

·       Support refinery planning and optimization initiatives.

 

Objective 5: Support Technical Excellence

Key Results

·       Deliver accurate daily process calculations and performance reports.

·       Complete technical reviews of contractor submissions within agreed timelines.

 

Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and operating standards.

Job Requirements

·       Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree, MBA or postgraduate qualification preferred

·       Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

·       Master's Degree is an advantage.

·       Process Safety Management (PSM)

·       HAZOP Training

·       Refinery Operations Training

·       Aspen HYSYS Certification or equivalent

·       NEBOSH, IOSH, or other HSE-related Certifications

·       English

·       Additional regional languages are an Advantage

Professional Experiences ;

·       5-10 years of relevant process engineering experience within oil refining, petroleum processing, petrochemical, or energy industries.

·       Experience in refinery operations and process optimization is preferred.

·       Strong understanding of refinery process operations and process engineering principles.

·       Good knowledge of ADU, Hydrogen Plant, and Jet A-1 Hydrotreating operations.

·       Experience in catalyst performance monitoring and process troubleshooting.

·       Solid understanding of refinery configuration, feedstock evaluation, and product economics.

·       Knowledge of refinery planning and linear optimization models.

·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·       Excellent communication and technical report-writing capabilities.

·       Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.

·       Strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
