Job Description
Refinery Operations Management
· Direct and manage daily operations of ADU/CDU, Jet-A1 Hydrotreater, and Hydrogen Production Units.
· Ensure refinery production targets, product quality requirements, and operational KPIs are achieved.
· Monitor process performance and optimize plant operations to maximize yield, reliability, and profitability.
· Lead production planning and refinery operating strategy implementation.
· Ensure safe and efficient refinery startup, shutdown, and emergency operations.
ADU/CDU Operations Management
· Oversee crude receiving, storage, transfer, and desalting operations.
· Ensure safe and efficient operation of crude furnaces and atmospheric distillation columns.
· Monitor kerosene, naphtha, AGO, and atmospheric residue production.
· Optimize distillation efficiency, product yields, energy utilization, and equipment performance.
· Lead troubleshooting for column flooding, weeping, temperature imbalance, furnace performance issues, and heat exchanger inefficiencies.
· Coordinate plant operation with downstream processing units.
Jet-A1 Hydrotreater Operations Management
· Manage operation of hydrotreater reactors, charge heaters, hydrogen circulation systems, and separation sections.
· Ensure compliance with Jet-A1 product specifications and aviation fuel quality standards.
· Monitor sulfur removal efficiency, freezing point control, and product quality performance.
· Supervise catalyst loading, sulfating, catalyst activity monitoring, and regeneration planning.
· Optimize hydrogen-to-oil ratio and reactor operating parameters.
· Manage off-specification product handling and corrective actions.
Hydrogen Production Unit Management
· Manage natural gas feed preparation, reforming, shift conversion, hydrogen purification, and PSA operations.
· Ensure reliable hydrogen production to support hydrotreater demand.
· Monitor hydrogen purity, pressure, flow rates, and overall plant performance.
· Lead troubleshooting of hydrogen generation systems and reformer operations.
· Ensure compliance with hydrogen safety requirements and emergency response procedures.
· Oversee startup, shutdown, and maintenance coordination of hydrogen facilities.
Integrated Process Coordination
· Coordinate ADU kerosene production rate with hydrotreater feed demand.
· Balance hydrogen production capacity with hydrotreater operational requirements.
· Ensure hydrogen purity and pressure meet process requirements.
· Coordinate refinery-wide operating decisions to maximize production efficiency.
· Manage operational response during process upsets, unit trips, and plant emergencies.
· Ensure seamless integration between upstream and downstream units.
Start-Up, Commissioning & Performance Testing
· Lead refinery commissioning, startup, and performance testing activities.
· Oversee mechanical completion verification and pre-commissioning activities.
· Supervise hydrotesting, flushing, cleaning, nitrogen purging, and steam-out operations.
· Manage DCS, SIS, and ESD testing programs.
· Lead catalyst loading, catalyst sulfating, furnace light-off, and hydrogen introduction activities.
· Ensure successful plant stabilization and performance guarantee testing.
· Provide technical leadership during greenfield and brownfield projects.
Process Safety & Risk Management
· Ensure compliance with refinery HSE standards, regulations, and permit-to-work systems.
· Promote process safety management (PSM) programs.
· Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis.
· Participate in risk assessments, HAZOP studies, and management of change activities.
· Develop strategies to minimize operational risk and prevent major process incidents.
Team Development & Knowledge Transfer
· Develop local operators, supervisors, and engineers through structured coaching and mentoring.
· Build technical competency in refinery operations, troubleshooting, and emergency management.
· Promote succession planning and leadership development.
· Conduct regular technical training programs and operational assessments.
· Support localization initiatives through systematic knowledge transfer.
Contractor & Vendor Management
• Coordinate with equipment suppliers, licensors, EPC contractors, and OEM specialists.
• Manage technical service agreements and vendor performance.
• Provide technical support during major maintenance, turnaround, and project execution activities.
• Review technical recommendations and implement best practices.
Reporting & Performance Management
· Develop operational KPIs and refinery performance reporting systems.
· Monitor production, reliability, energy efficiency, and operational performance indicators.
· Prepare management reports and refinery performance reviews.
· Support budgeting, cost control, and operational planning initiatives.

Job Requirements
· Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree, MBA or postgraduate qualification preferred
· Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related discipline.
· Master's Degree or MBA is preferred.

Professional Experiences ;
· 15-20+ years in refinery operations.
· Minimum 5 years in Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Production Manager, or Shift Manager leadership role.
· Proven operating experience in ADU/CDU operations.
· Proven operating experience in Jet- A1/Kerosene Hydrotreating operations
· Proven operating experience in Hydrogen Production Units.
· Minimum one refinery commissioning and startup experience.
· Strong leadership and refinery operations management capability.
· Extensive knowledge of crude distillation, hydrotreating, hydrogen generation, and aviation fuel production.
· Strong refinery startup and commissioning experience.
· Excellent troubleshooting and process optimization skills.
· Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
· Experience working in multicultural environments.
· Ability to provide 24/7 emergency operational support.
· Strong commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
